Johanna Dahlbäck, gymnasiet 1

Johanna Dahlbäck, gymnasiet 1 - "TYNGD". It’s about power. About who’s got the control and over what. About to question and walk out of routines and habits, into a boundless future.

This painting is a scene from a prose text I wrote in December -08. It’s about the trees, fallen asleep and deeply in to being somewhere else. Afraid of loosing their heads they try to collect their weight in the belly button. The weight of not falling down.

“Make a difference!” This painting is created from fragments of political cartoons drawn by my grandmother’s uncle, Emil Stump´. It is about using fragments of the past to create a new future, a new idea.

“My City” Oil painting on canvas Size 90cm x 117cm A small box is to hang beside this piece, for people to put their comments in. The box will have the following text on it: Drop me your thoughts! This is my city. It’s filled with life and movement and it is still developing. As a citizen you rarely have any power to affect your local environment, since cities are planned and designed by a small group of hand-picked architectural companies, leaving no room for the thoughts and opinions of the cities inhabitants. This city is different. Here it is up to you, the person moving through the streets. How do you want this painting to look in the future? What would YOU like to see in it? Whats good and whats bad? Feed me you ideas!

"Commuter Therapy" This painting depicts the future utopian city through the eyes of those who are in control of it and who want "their" city to look exactly the same as all of the other cities in the western world. An orgy in glass and brushed, polished stainless steel where the citizens (who should be in control of the enviroment they live in) are merely observers of their leaders surgicly clean visions. Oil painting with black marker pen on canvas. 41cm x 30cm
